How to Dress Taller
We're all for embracing your height whether you're 6'2" or 5'1", but we understand how frustrating it is to look like you're drowning in regular clothing when you're super petite and short. If you not only want to have clothing that fits you the way you want, but you want a streamlined all around look, read on for our Petite Guide to Dressing Taller.
THE PERFECT SHADE OF NUDE SHOES
This one's pretty simple: wearing a shade of nude heels close to your skin tone will elongate your legs because they blend right in. Even if you don't want to wear a heel, a nude flat will still elongate, just less.
HIGH WAISTED EVERYTHING
High waisted jeans, skirts, and dresses will elongate your look. It brings up your waistline, making your legs look longer.
The good ole vertical stripes tip. If you don't know this one, it's basically another trick of the eye that long lines make you look longer.
AVOID OVERSIZED PATTERNS
Small people can easily look like they're drowning in any oversized pattern, even if the fit is right. Go for smaller prints if you want to elongate your shape.
MIDI translates to MAXI
This is a great tip if you don't want to spend the money getting maxi dresses tailored. Look for midi dresses and consider them your maxis.
WIDE LEG PANTS AND HEELS
Look for flared pants that are so long you have to wear a pair of heels with them and they'll still graze the floor. The math here is simple: if the heel height can't easily be seen, no one knows where your leg stops and the heel begins.
CLUTCHES OVER oversized bags
In line with the oversized patterns, you want to avoid pieces that dwarf you. Stick to smaller bags or even clutches when you can.
